January 11, 2012 – Beginning in January, Stillwater students in grades 3-10 (excluding sixth grade) will take online tests called Measures of Academic Progress ™ (MAP), which are designed to measure academic growth in the areas of reading, language and math.
These assessments will not be factored into student grades. Rather, the tests focus on academic growth. If the data shows that a student is not demonstrating sufficient growth, the teacher will have specific information to help them revise instructional practices in order to better serve that student.
Depending on your student’s grade level, MAP testing will take place Jan. 9-11 for elementary students (grades 3-5); Jan. 23-25 for middle school students (grades 7-8); and, Jan. 30-Feb. 3 for high school students (grades 9-10). The assessments will be given three times a year.
For more information about the MAP tests, download the Parent Toolkit (PDF) on the NWEA website.
