Video Journalism students showcase their dance moves to show how they stay healthy.

January 31, 2012 – Stillwater Middle School was recently awarded $500 and “honorable mention” designation in BlueShield of Northeastern New York's first-ever healthy changes everything video contest.

With a catchy tune in the background called “Healthy Changes Everything,” students demonstrated through video how they practice staying healthy. Students are seen making healthy food choices at the grocery store, dancing, and walking outside.

“I’m proud of all of the video journalism students who worked on this project,” said Video Journalism Teacher Karen Prescott. “Students worked together to create the video, and I’m especially proud of the students who choreographed the dance routine and the students who worked behind the scenes.”

The school is still determining how they want to use the award money. Some ideas include purchasing a Nintendo Wii for the school to be used in physical education classes or hosting a “healthy evening” for students and their families.
