A message on district vision setting from Superintendent Morris

Oct. 31, 2017

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Stillwater Central School District is working on a long-term vision setting process to best serve our students, parents, and community. With the mindset of, "it takes a village to raise a child," we recognize the importance of gathering feedback from everyone who comes together to help educate our students, starting with you, the parent.

Looking to continue our district’s significant improvements in academics the past few years, the Stillwater Central School District will begin the process of identifying its vision for the future to lead our schools to greatness in the years to come. This "Vision Implementation Planning" will begin with interviews and surveys, continue with analysis of other district data, and conclude with a planning group comprised of students, Board of Education representatives, administrative team leaders, community members, parents, employees, and teachers. The final plan will give our Board of Education a framework for decision-making and will provide direction to measure the progress of the district, staff, administration, and the Board itself. Our process is values-based, developed by various stakeholders, and reflects the needs of our students and community.

As some of you may know, Dr. Stephen Danna and Ms. Emma Bartscherer have already facilitated interviews with the Stillwater school community and I thank all of the staff, students, and parents for their involvement. In addition to input from our students, staff, and administration, we invite you to be a part of this vision through your continued participation.

Phase 2 of our vision setting is now underway and in this next step we invite you to complete a brief parent survey by visiting https://goo.gl/GEs54d. Your feedback will serve as a valuable resource to us.

"Every great journey starts with a first step," which is why we jump start this project by informing the school community of our plan and inviting you to participate. We eagerly await your feedback and appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
