Writing Centers

The Stillwater Central School District will be offering Writing Centers to assist students on large writing projects or research papers in the middle school and high school. The Writing Centers will be available to students after school.

Students will receive assistance with concept development, outlining, organization and research, necessary for producing quality written work. The Writing Centers will be coordinated as a group effort between our English Departments and Special Education Teachers.

Students do not need to be identified as having special needs or learning disabilities to benefit from the support of these centers. The idea is to offer a service similar to the writing centers one might find on college campuses. We are hopeful that our students will find this academic support to be a helpful resource when they encounter large writing assignments that prove to be challenging. The Writing Center teachers will teach strategies for improving writing skills, while utilizing students' writing assignments from their content area classes.

Students will be informed of the Writing Centers hours of operation and how they can access this after school service. If you have any questions regarding the Writing Centers, please feel free to contact the Office of Special Programs at 373-6100, ext. 31180.
