Lockdown drills conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 20

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, Tuesday, Nov. 20, elementary, middle and high school students and staff participated in our second lockdown drill of the year. The first drill we held in October was announced ahead of time and today’s drill was not. This is done to ensure that the drills are as effective and real as possible.

Our district is required to conduct a total of four lockdown drills throughout the year. The remaining two drills will also be unannounced.

As always, we continue to work with local and state police, as well as the sheriff’s department. Once the drills are complete, we debrief and analyze what could be improved upon for next time.

Our district has worked diligently to be proactive about safety, security, and planning for potential emergencies. Please remember that the goal of these drills is to reassure students that there is a district safety plan and that they are an important part of it.

Thank you for your support and cooperation. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
