Message from the superintendent

August 13, 2021

Dear Stillwater Families,

We greatly anticipate welcoming students back to school soon. Your children are the bright lights in our days. We look forward to their positive energy filling our hallways and classrooms!

The district received guidance from the New York State Education Department on August 12, 2021, regarding health and safety measures for returning to school. Although we were already working on a plan for the district, we must now review that plan in light of the new guidance and in anticipation of potential, forthcoming mandates from the state. In addition, we will be reviewing the plan with our district’s medical doctor.

I do anticipate a full reopening of school and a normal schedule for all grades, with layers of mitigation factors to ensure maximized in-person learning, while maintaining a safe learning environment. Thank you for waiting; it is our intent to release accurate information as soon as possible.

Also, at this time we are finalizing bus routes for students. If your information/needs are different from the postcard that will be mailed to you on Monday, August 16, by the transportation office, please contact that office at 518-664-5661. Otherwise, we will plan for the location/times as reflected on the postcard.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we plan to welcome back all of our students to school next month. Enjoy the rest of our summer.

Sincerely,
Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
