Absent: None

President Hems called the meeting of the Board of Education to order at 6:00 p.m.

Board members led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There was no public input.

  1. Consent Agenda
    1. On a motion by V. Masterson, seconded by M. Toleman, to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
      1. The minutes of the 8/29/2017 regular meeting of the Board of Education (see supplemental minutes)
      2. General Warrant #16 in the amount of $141,963.94 (see supplemental minutes)
      3. Emergency Warrant #4 in the amount of $1,839.07 (see supplemental minutes)
      4. Federal Warrant #2 in the amount of $7,486.40 (see supplemental minutes)
      5. Accept the following Schedule B resignations:
        1. Vicki Schuette – Warrior TV
        2. Cindy Meers – Co-Advisor HS Drama Club
      6. Approve the following Schedule B appointment(s):

    1. On a motion by V. Masterson, seconded by S. Valigorsky, to approve the District Goals for 2017-2020 as presented. (see supplemental minutes)

  4. Substitute Teacher Pay Rate
    1. On a motion by B. McNeil, seconded by S. Valigorsky, to increase the pay rate for substitute teachers to $110.00/day, effective 9/13/17. (see supplemental minutes)

  5. Financial Reports
    1. Board members received a Fund Balance Projection, Revenue Status Report, and Appropriations Status Report for 6/30/2017. (see supplemental minutes)

  6. Approval – Bus Purchase
    1. On a motion by S. Valigorsky, seconded by B. McNeil, to  approve the bus purchase proposal as presented in the amount of $117,014.92. (see supplemental minutes)

  7. Appointment – E. Malinowski Childhood Education, Grades 1-6
    1. On a motion by D. Giso, seconded by S. Valigorsky, to appoint – Emily Malinowski to a probationary term in the tenure area of Childhood Education, Grades 1-6. effective 9/1/2017. Ms. Malinowski holds an initial certification in the area of Childhood Education, Grades 1-6. Effective 7/1/2016. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Malinowski receiving Professional certification, no later than 8/31/2021.
    2. Ms. Malinowski will be placed on BA Step 1 of the salary schedule, with 3 additional graduate hours, for a total salary of $37,550.00.. (see supporting documents)

  8. Appointment – L. Hotaling, Business and Marketing
    1. On a motion by B. McNeil, seconded by S. Valigorsky, to appoint Lorelei Hotaling to a probationary term in the tenure area of Business and Marketing effective 9/13/2017. Ms. Hotaling holds an initial certification in the area of Business and Marketing. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Hotaling receiving Professional certification, no later than 1/31/2019.
    2. Ms. Hotaling will be placed on MA Step 1 of the salary schedule, with 24 additional graduate hours, for a total salary of $41,885. (see supporting documents)

  9. Appointments
    1. On a motion by V. Masterson, seconded by M. Tolement, to approve the following appointments:
      1. M. Perniciaro – Teaching Assistant
        1. Monica Perniciaro to a probationary term as a Teaching Assistant effective 9/5/2017. Ms. Perniciaro holds certification as a Teaching Assistant Level 1. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Perniciaro maintaining her certification as a Teaching Assistant.
        2. Ms. Perniciaro’s annual salary is $20,537.00, according to the terms of the current STA contract. (see supporting documents)
      2. P. Shannon – Teaching Assistant
        1. Patricia Shannon to a probationary term as a Teaching Assistant effective 9/5/2017. Ms. Shannon holds certification as a  Teaching Assistant Level 1. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Shannon maintaining her certification as a Teaching Assistant.
        2. Ms. Shannon’s annual salary is $20,537.00, according to the terms of the current STA contract. (see supporting documents)
      3. R.   Beauvais – Teaching Assistant
        1. Renee Beauvais to a probationary term as a Teaching Assistant effective 9/5/2017. Ms. Beauvais holds certification as a Teaching Assistant Level 1. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Beauvais maintaining her certification as a Teaching Assistant.
        2. Ms. Beauvais’ annual salary is $20,537, according to the terms  of the current STA contract. (see supporting documents)
      4. S.  Dockum – Teaching Assistant
        1. Sherri Dockum to a probationary term as a Teaching Assistant effective 9/6/2017. Ms. Dockum holds certification  as  a Teaching Assistant Level 1. This appointment is specifically contingent upon Ms. Dockum maintaining her certification as a Teaching Assistant.
        2. Ms. Dockum’s annual salary is $20,537, according to the terms  of the current STA contract. (see supporting documents)
