Special Education Teacher (Elementary)

Description: The Stillwater Central School District is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our special education team. This position provides both Consultant Teacher (CT) and Resource Room services to students in grades K-5, with a strong emphasis on inclusive practices, collaboration, and individualized support.

The successful candidate will work directly with students in general education classrooms and small-group settings to ensure access to the curriculum while supporting each student’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Consultant Teacher and Resource Room services in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers to plan, differentiate, and implement effective instructional strategies within inclusive classroom settings.
  • Deliver specially designed instruction that addresses individual student needs while promoting independence and student success.
  • Monitor student progress, collect and analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Partner with related service providers, school psychologists, counselors, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
  • Participate actively in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and positive behavioral supports to foster student engagement and success.
  • Maintain strong communication with families regarding student progress and educational programming.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, student-focused school culture through ongoing professional learning and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 6 or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of New York State special education regulations and IEP development.
  • Experience providing Consultant Teacher and/or Resource Room services preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive instructional practices, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Salary: Based on STA contract.

School Aides (10-Month) – Multiple

Description: The Stillwater Central School District is seeking dedicated and compassionate 10-month School Aides to join our team and provide essential support to students with special needs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our students receive the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with special needs in a variety of instructional settings
  • Assisting students with academic tasks, classroom participation, and transitions throughout the day
  • Helping implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Promoting positive behavior and fostering independence
  • Assisting with personal care tasks as needed (training provided)
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children, especially in a school or special education setting, preferred
  • Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to helping all students succeed
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently

Salary: $22,595 per CSEA contract.

Teaching Assistants (10-Month) – Multiple

Description: The Stillwater Central School District is looking to hire Teaching Assistants who will provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a New York State – certified teacher.

The current open positions will support the educational needs of our diverse learners and those students with IEPs. Candidates should be flexible and enjoy working across a variety of settings to help all children achieve their goals. *Assignment may change from year to year across the district.

**Candidates must be certified as a Teaching Assistant.

Salary: $26,520 per STA contract.

Start Date: Sept. 1, 2026.

Spanish Teacher – Middle School

Description: The Stillwater Central School District is accepting applications for a full-time, probationary Middle School Spanish Teacher. Candidates for this position must possess a valid NYS Spanish 7-12 Certification and the ideal candidate will have some teaching experience. Qualified candidates must apply on OLAS and submit a complete application. A complete application will consist of a cover letter, updated resume, transcripts, three letters of reference and a copy of certification. Selected applicants will be invited to interview in-person with building stakeholders.

Qualifications: NYS Spanish 7-12 Certification

Salary: Salary is determined based on the STA contract agreement and experience.

Start Date: Sept. 2026.

Extended School Year (ESY) Positions

  • Special Education Teachers – $38.04/hr.
  • Teaching Assistant – $17.78/hr.
  • School Aides – $16.54/hr.

*rates are pending settlement of the CSEA and STA contracts

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Stillwater Central School District is looking for special education teachers, school aides, and teaching assistants to staff the summer program (Extended School Year). The program runs from Monday to Friday for six weeks, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily. Teachers are paid up to an additional 40 minutes daily for planning. The dates will run from July 6 to Aug. 14.

Requirements/Qualifications: Qualified candidates should apply on OLAS and submit a complete application. A complete application will consist of a cover letter, updated resume, transcripts, three letters of reference, and proof of certification.
