We’re excited to announce two new courses coming to Stillwater High School this fall, “Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources” and “Principles of Agricultural Science – Animal.”

What is agriculture?

It’s much more than just farming! Agriculture is the science, art, and business of using plants, animals, natural resources, and technology to produce food and deliver essential services that impact our everyday lives.

Why take Principles of Agricultural Science – Animal?

This course is perfect for students who:

  • Enjoy working with animals and want to study their biology, care and/or management.
  • Are curious about the various career opportunities in animal science.
  • Want to improve animal welfare.
  • Are interested in understanding animal behavior and physiology.
  • Want to learn how science, technology, engineering and math solve problems.

What will I learn in Agricultural Science – Animal?

  • Students will explore the fields of agriculture and animal science, along with a variety of related career opportunities.
  • Students will study consumers perceptions and preferences related to animals in local, regional and global markets
  • Students will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as animal anatomy, physiology, behavior, nutrition, reproduction, health, selection and marketing through engaging, hands-on activities, projects and real-world problem-solving.

Who can enroll?

This course is open to all students in grades 9–12 who have successfully completed the Living Environment course.
