Thirteen Stillwater High School seniors committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level by signing letters of intent on Thursday, May 1, as part of National College Decision Day.
The district’s athletic department hosted a celebration in the Lilac Lobby, where family and friends gathered to recognize the student athletes’ accomplishments.
“I commend each of you for taking on the challenge of becoming collegiate athletes,” said Athletics Director Mike Kinney. “There will be challenges to overcome – being away from home, balancing academics, athletics and social life – but you’ve already managed that balance in high school. I’m confident you’ll do the same in college.”
These talented student-athletes have competed at the state level in various sports including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and track and field. They’ll continue their athletic journeys at institutions ranging from community colleges to NCAA Division I programs.
Senior Anthony Zazzaro, a standout in both track and cross country, will attend Division I Binghamton University this fall. He plans to major in biology with a focus on health and wellness, aligning with his long-term career goals.
“I chose Binghamton because it offers the perfect balance of competitive academics and athletics,” Anthony said. “I was also drawn to the close-knit, supportive culture of the track and cross country teams. Coming from a small school, I knew I wanted to be a part of a community that values both individual achievement and collaboration.”

Senior Isabella Mack will bring her soccer skills to Dominican University New York, a Division II school where she’ll also study nursing.
“I chose Dominican because of its family-like atmosphere and culture,” Isabella said. “I instantly connected with the soccer team, the coach, and the professors I met while shadowing nursing classes. I also love its location—close to New York City and convenient for my family to watch me play.”
Though Anthony, Isabella, and their fellow athletes are moving on to bigger stages, their time at Stillwater has prepared them well for college competition.
“Running at Stillwater taught me discipline, resilience and how to lead by example,” Anthony said. “Being part of a small school allowed me to take on leadership roles early and push my limits. Breaking records was exciting, but it also came with the responsibility of motivating others and setting a standard. Those experiences gave me the mental toughness and work ethic I’ll need to succeed in college.”
Isabella shared a similar perspective, saying “Stillwater soccer is what sparked my love for the sport.”
“The coach encouraged me to try out in seventh grade, and I fell in love with the game right away. Playing at Stillwater helped me build the skills and fitness needed for club soccer and gave me leadership experience—I was team captain my last two years. The awards I’ve earned from Section 2 and New York State are also meaningful additions to my resume,” Isabella said.
