A message from the superintendent

Dear Stillwater Families,

As the 2018-19 school year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the year and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. This year has been full of achievement and collaboration from our students and our staff, and we will continue to build on that as we plan ahead for next year.

As we head into the 2019-20 school year, keep an eye out this summer for information on our new district-wide communication tool, School Messenger, which will soon replace School News Notifier in the fall.

As I’m sure you are aware, capital project construction is underway on campus. This summer, a secured entryway is being established at the elementary school, along with some roofing work and the paving of the elementary school parking lot. All work at the elementary school is estimated to be done by early fall.

During this time, you may also notice signs posted for asbestos abatement that will be taking place in an area above the high school cafeteria. In order for this work to take place, the construction team will need to have access to an HVAC unit, which is through the fitness center. Therefore, the fitness center will be closed for the summer and is expected to re-open for the start of the school year. Stay tuned for more updates on construction throughout the summer and fall.

While many may think our schools and offices are shut down for July and August, the truth is that those months are very busy for us here in the district. This summer, we will be hosting a variety of student activities and summer programming, as well as professional development initiatives for our staff.

We continually strive to make Stillwater Central School District the best place for our students to learn. Thank you for sharing them with us! Enjoy the weather and the time with your children — it goes by much too quickly!

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent
