Scholarships

Scholarship applications requiring an official high school transcript, counselor letter of recommendation or counselor’s signature must be submitted to your school counselor at least 14 days prior to the due date. In addition to the scholarships listed here, most colleges offer available scholarships when students apply to their school. Please contact the prospective colleges directly to inquire about scholarships.

Scholarships are categorized by the month in which the application deadline is due. Please keep checking back for new opportunities.

May Deadline

Capital District Counseling Association: Awarded to local students enrolling at a Capital Region undergraduate institution Four $1000 and one $2500 scholarship. Please email Ms. Miller at lmiller@scsd.org for an application. The deadline is May 1, 2020.

Capital District Counseling Association First Generation Scholarship:  High school seniors can apply if you are a first generation student, neither of the applicant’s parents have received a college degree.  Please email Ms. Miller at lmiller@scsd.org for an application. The deadline is May 1, 2020.

Hudson Crossing Park Seedling Award: A $150 award to a student who has demonstrated excellence and outstanding dedication to their community and/or the environment. Visit www.hudsoncrossingpark.org/seedling-award for more information and to apply. The deadline is May 1, 2020.

Ralph E. McKernon Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a senior who lives in Washington County and is attending a two or four year college majoring in the field of engineering. Preference will be given to students who enter the Civil Engineering field. Interested students should email lmiller@scsd.org for an application. The deadline is May 10, 2020.

Adirondack School Counseling Association Scholarship: A $1500 scholarship to a senior planning to attend a 4-year college or university. Eligibility requirements are student plans to study human services, sociology, psychology or a related “helping” field. Interested seniors should email Ms. Miller for an application. The deadline is May 15, 2020.

B. Davis Scholarship: This $1000 scholarship is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Be sure to include your name and school you attend this year and next. This is not an academic scholarship but include where you are going to school now and what your future plans are. To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you admire most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual. Your submission must be sent by email at awards@studentawardsearch.com. The deadline is May 22, 2020.

American Society of Civil Engineers: Awarded to a senior who intends to enroll in an educational institution majoring in the field of Civil Engineering. Interested seniors should email lmiller@scsd.org for an application. The deadline is May 22, 2020.

July Deadline

Beauty Schools Marketing Group: Beauty schools marketing group are offering $2,500 scholarships once every three months to a senior planning a career in beauty trades such as cosmetology, barbering,esthetics, nail technology, etc. The quarterly deadlines to apply are Oct. 31st, Jan. 31st, April 30th and July 31st.
