How to be Successful in Middle School

  • Match the color of folders and binders for different subjects when able to.
  • Purchase a locker ladder to keep your locker organized.
  • Try to place your books and binders in your locker in the order that you need them throughout the day.
  • Place things in specific areas of the binder as instructed by the teacher.
  • Ask questions as needed during class.
  • Write all homework assignments in your planner.
  • Write all homework assignments daily until they are due if you have longer to complete it.
  • Check you planner at the end of the day to make sure you bring home the materials needed.
  • Try to complete homework as soon after school ends as possible.
  • Find a quiet area with lots of writing space to do your homework.
  • Complete all of your extra supplies in one location at home.
  • Open your planner as you start your homework to remind yourself what you need to complete.
  • Check off assignments as you complete them. Look ahead to see what else you can work on if you had a light day of homework.
  • Clean out your binders weekly so they don’t get out of control.
  • Put your materials back in your backpack when you are done with homework and place the bag in the same location each day.
  • Clean your locker regularly.
  • Stay after school with teachers as needed.
  • Attend school regularly and punctually.
  • Make up any work owed if absent from school.
