On May 6, 2025, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced a bell-to-bell restriction on personal electronic devices in K–12 schools. This means that middle and high school students will not be allowed to use cell phones or other internet-enabled smart devices capable of sending or receiving electronic communications during school hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:19 p.m.
Every school district in the state is exploring how it will meet this obligation, given the unique needs of its student population. The Stillwater Central School District administration is planning two public forums to provide the community with an opportunity to engage in open dialogue about the district’s compliance with this mandate. We invite all stakeholders to attend and share their input and constructive feedback on Tuesday, July 1, from 4–5 p.m. and 6–7 p.m. in the MS/HS auditorium.
Together, we can ensure the successful implementation of this policy in a way that reflects the needs and values of our school community.
