The girls varsity volleyball team’s winning streak remains unstoppable as they captured their fourth Wasaren League Championship title on Wednesday, Oct. 22, sweeping past Mechanicville.

With the win, they advance to the Sectional Quarterfinal on Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at Stillwater High School. They’ll face the winner of the Canajoharie-Fort Plain vs. Hoosic Valley match, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The team has had an outstanding season, remaining undefeated in the Wasaren League with a 12-0 record. Junior Andie Luskin also achieved a major milestone, reaching 1,000 career kills in the Oct. 6 match against Hoosic Valley.

“We have been working so hard to achieve the Wasaren League Championship for the last four years,” said senior Tessa Miller. “This accomplishment is no surprise due to the amount of hard work and discipline we have all put into this sport. Every week we not only have practice, but we do team workouts along with working with a sports physiologist and Coach Hogan to improve our skills and mindset on and off the court to prepare for the next game.”

Sophomore Mya Price shared her teammate’s excitement and optimism for what’s ahead. “The season so far has been amazing, especially to play alongside such an amazing group of girls and against many competitive teams,” she said. “Getting this title just shows how great of a coach and program we have, but also how all of us have different, crucial roles on a small team that combine to make us successful. Now, headed into sectionals, I think it will be a very competitive journey, but I believe that if we put in as much work at practices as possible, we can do it.”

Congratulations ladies on your extraordinary achievement and good luck in the Sectional Quarterfinals!
