Notice of asbestos removal in middle/high school building during April break

In accordance with the requirements of federal and state regulations, we are notifying the community of asbestos abatement that will be take place in the Stillwater middle/high school building during the spring recces.

Beginning after school on Thursday, April 18, until Saturday, April 27, asbestos-containing material will be removed from a crawl space in the middle school music wing. No classrooms will be disrupted.

All work will be completed prior to the return of students on Monday, April 29.

To ensure that the work will present no risk to staff occupying other areas during this time, the construction area will be isolated from the rest of the building by an air-tight barrier.

All asbestos removal activities will be monitored full-time by a third-party certified and licensed environmental consultant. The monitoring includes, but is not limited to, pre-abatement inspection, daily oversight, daily air sampling during asbestos removal, collection of clearance air samples and final inspection at the completion of the asbestos removal activities.
