On Friday, May 16th at 9 a.m., the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) program will host a powerful and impactful event in the student parking lot near the MS/HS auditorium.
Rain or shine, the “Mock Car Crash: A SADD Awareness Initiative” aims to raise awareness among students about the dangers of driving under the influence and distracted driving. Through a realistic simulation, students will witness firsthand the potential consequences of making poor decisions behind the wheel.
Event Highlights Include:
- A realistic mock car crash scenario;
- Student volunteers acting as crash victims and bystanders;
- Participation from local first responders (police, fire, EMTs) simulating an emergency response; and,
- A focus on the emotional and legal aftermath of such incidents.
Please note there will be an increased presence of emergency personnel in the area during this time.
This is a mandatory event for all students attending prom. Students must be present at school that morning and attend the event in order to participate in prom activities.
After the event, students will sign the “Prom Promise” – a pledge to their family, school, and friends that they will not drink alcohol, use drugs, or drive distracted on prom night. This symbolic commitment reinforces safety, responsibility and smart decision-making, values essential to ensuring a positive prom experience for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep our students safe during prom season and beyond.
Sincerely,
