The two men on the left and right have gray hair. The one on the right is wearing a red sweater with a matching tie underneath, as well as glasses. The man on the left is wearing a light colored dress shirt with a black zip-up vest.

With deep roots and a vibrant history right in its backyard, Stillwater Central School District is home to the turning point of the American Revolution—the Battle of Saratoga. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, commemorative events highlight this key moment in history while connecting students to the area’s rich past and enduring impact.

The inaugural Saratoga 250 “America’s Turning Point” Scholarship is one example of this connection. Stillwater High School senior Berkely Thate received this award on Dec. 13, 2025, which honors students who understand the significance of the Battle of Saratoga, often referred to as “America’s Turning Point.” Through this scholarship, students gain a meaningful connection to this pivotal Revolutionary War moment, fostering education while preserving its historical legacy.

Congratulations Berkely!
