Warm wishes for a safe winter break

Dear Stillwater Families,

Next week allows students time to take a break from classes and relax. I hope you have time together as families enjoying the height of a white northeast winter. Soon enough we will be rounding the corner to spring, and with it a true sense of relief and renewal as our local positivity rate continues to decline and vaccines continue to roll out.

Our district is strategically planning for a spring that allows more and more opportunities for our children. While different from our Return to Learn Plan for the fall, we know that there are many aspects of school that require careful planning as we move forward. Our Recovery and Renewal Plan will outline the district’s steps for a transition to fully in-person instruction for our staff and students. More to come as we work toward this goal.

While students enjoy the winter break, it is important to continue to follow the guidance for safe interactions with others. This includes masking and social distancing, limiting exposure to others outside your immediate family and reporting any positive family/student cases to school so that we can assist with helping you stay safe. This sounds like a broken record, however, remaining conscientious will allow for a safe return for students and staff on February 22, 2021.

Please, as always, report student absences to the building nurse regardless of reason. This helps us track student attendance and also reduces potential interruptions to your day when we must call to verify a student absence.

Enjoy each other and stay well,
Patti Morris
SCSD Superintendent
