WSWHE BOCES accepting applications for next Superintendent of Schools

The Stillwater Central School District is currently searching for a dynamic, dedicated and knowledgeable individual to be its next Superintendent of Schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to lead, connect with all stakeholders and embody the values of the district. A search was initiated when current Superintendent of Schools, Patricia Morris, announced her plans earlier this year to retire in 2024. Dr. Turina Parker, District Superintendent of WSWHE BOCES, was appointed by the Stillwater Board of Education to be the lead search consultant in the district’s quest for its next leader.

SCSD serves as a centerpiece of the community, and as such requires the successful candidate to be highly visible. The search for a new superintendent will be a collaborative process, as the Board—with input from various stakeholder groups—will make all decisions regarding candidacy, interviews, and appointment to the position. The timeline to select and introduce the new Superintendent of Schools is as followed:

  • Sept. 29, 2023: last date to submit applications
  • Dec. 2023: Board of Education appoints new superintendent
  • Feb. 9, 2024: new superintendent takes office

SCSD provides its 1,000 K-12 students with a small school atmosphere, complete with individualized attention, strong community support and a robust school experience. The district is proud to provide students with a strong academic program in core subjects, including accelerated courses, college in the high school, distance learning and a variety of electives. In addition, SCSD offers competitive sports programs across three seasons and a wide range of clubs and extracurricular activities. With a focus on continuous improvement of self and community, SCSD is adept at changing with the times and offering its students the best educational experience possible.
