A letter from the interim elementary principal regarding upcoming New York State ELA and math testing

Dear Stillwater Elementary Families:

It’s that time of year again when students in grades 3 – 5 will take the New York State exams in English Language Arts and mathematics.

The 2019 Grades 3-5 ELA and math exams are administered over two sessions and two consecutive days per each exam. Students are asked to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the areas of reading, writing and math. Stillwater Elementary has elected to administer the paper based form of testing for the 2019 school year. The exam schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 2 – English Language Arts Session I
  • Wednesday, April 3 – English Language Arts Session II
  • Wednesday, May 1 – Mathematics Exam Session I
  • Thursday, May 2 – Mathematics Exam Session II

It is important for students to be present for all sessions of the test. Should a student be absent for a portion of the exam, the test will be administered to the student when they return.

A good night’s sleep prior to testing and some breakfast each morning will help your child to be well rested and energized for the assessment. Our students are well prepared and I am confident that they will perform to the best of their ability.

If you have any questions about the New York State testings, please contact me, or your child’s teacher. The exam results are typically released in the fall.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Clint Froschauer
Interim Elementary Principal
