Elementary school to dismiss early on Wednesdays through end of the year

Dear Stillwater Elementary Families,

This week marks week four of being back in our schools. As I’ve said each week in my Newsflash, it is refreshing to have our students back in the building. As we continually evaluate our reopening plan, we make necessary changes that improve our ability to deliver a safe and sound education to our students.

Due to COVID-19 and the restructuring of our school schedule this year, our teachers have not been given the time that they had in the past to work together collaboratively. This time together is important in order to bridge gaps and provide enrichment opportunities for our students. This time was taken away since our schedule now includes Learning Lab days and split teaching in some of our classrooms.

In order to give our teachers the time that they need to work together, we have decided that beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 21, we will dismiss elementary students at 2 p.m. every Wednesday through the rest of the year. We will begin parent pick up at 1:55 p.m. and bus dismissal at 2 p.m. This means that you should plan for your child to be home approximately one hour and 15 minutes earlier on Wednesdays. If you have any questions regarding time, please contact our Transportation Department at (518) 664-5661.

As always, I thank you for your continued support. Please reach out with any questions that you may have.

Respectfully,

Rebecca Toleman
Stillwater Elementary Principal
