Chief Information Officer/Registrar

*This is a Civil Service NYS HELPS Program competitive position.

Description:

  • Assist building administrators in the use of all student management system functions (master scheduling, grade reporting, transcript generation, discipline, attendance, data accuracy, etc.)
  • Coordinate the utilization of the parent and student portals.
  • Provide data reports to Building Principals and District Office as requested.
  • In collaboration with district administrators, supervise and assist in the development, creation and production of student report cards and progress reports.
  • Responsible for data warehouse extracts, verification reports, civil rights report and other federal, state and local reporting requirements.
  • Work with Building Administrators to coordinate the District testing program; preparation of all data in School Tool for extraction and upload into the data warehouse for printing answer sheets, preparing data files to print the Regents exam answer sheets, and scanning High School Regents exams in January, June and August, compiles and distributes testing results.
  • Coordinate and supervise the reporting of student test data through the State Repository data reporting system.
  • Verifies and validates data in the NYSSIS, NYSTART, and Data Warehouse systems to ensure accuracy of district data being submitted to NYS for accountability purposes.
  • Attends training sessions and maintains contact with BOCES personnel regarding status of district’s testing data and any changes in reporting, procedures or policies.
  • Maintains physical and computerized records which may include but not limited to; student cumulative folders, progress and failure reports, class rosters, schedule changes, and grade books.
  • Oversee the processing of new student records including but not limited to; requesting transcripts and records from other schools, setting up cumulative folders, and entering student data into appropriate databases.
  • Coordinate grading process including but not limited to; establishing marking period dates with administration, processing of scan sheets, verification and correction of grades, and printing and distribution of report cards.
  • Assist with the processing of requests for student information, including student transcripts for colleges and universities.
  • Assist counselors with the enrollment, withdrawals, and transfer of students and process applicable records.
  • Assist campus administration and counselors with the preparation of reports and student data information and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications: 2-4 years college education with at least two years of experience with specialization in the functions of student management systems.

Excellent knowledge of state testing requirements and reporting; Student Management System (School Tool); SED Data Reporting System. Office methods and procedures and familiarity with the use of standard office equipment. Ability to carry out and understand oral and written instructions.

Salary: Commensurate with experience $50k-$60k
