Stillwater School Resource Officer Deputy Sean Lyons loves to teach. Stillwater High School senior Shayla Colarusso is passionate about family law, so a job shadow with Deputy Lyons was a perfect fit.

As a law enforcement officer, Deputy Lyons is often involved in the court system, and he’s shared his insights and experiences with Shayla. He’s also given her a view into the many perspectives of his profession beyond the courtroom.

About her planned career in family law, Shayla said, “I want to do it the right way. I’ve learned about both positive and negative sides, the good and the bad. If the right people are there to direct it, the right things can happen.”

Shayla is still looking at colleges, but is considering enrolling in SUNY Adirondack for her first two years and then continuing on with her education.

A number of students have job-shadowed Deputy Lyons, including Shayla, Mei Lei Urbanski, and Alexis LaFountain.
