“Nurshinta received this honor due to her dedication to music and her efforts with NYSSMA solos. She became eligible to apply for All Eastern based on the exceptional score she received during the 2021-22 school year,” said music teacher Kara Pitkin.

“All Eastern is a prestigious chorus made up of students from across the eastern states, including CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, PA and VT, as well as singers from Europe, who will all join together this month in Rochester for an amazing musical experience under conductor Jason Max Ferdinand, director of choral activities at the University of Maryland.

“All Eastern Chorus is sponsored by the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME),” Pitkin continued. “Music students endeavor to work their way up through many different levels to achieve this extraordinary experience, over many years of effort and practice.

“The honor ensembles start locally with All County, then move up to Area All State, All State, and then to All Eastern. Nurshinta plans to pursue a major in bioengineering. The music department (and I especially)are so proud of her achievement!”
