Reopening FAQ now posted on district website

Dear Stillwater Community,

As you know, the district submitted its reopening plan to the state on Friday, July 31. If you haven’t already, you can view that plan on our district website here. Today, we published a Frequently Asked Questions page on our district website. Please take some time to review this information as it may answer some of the questions that you have in regards to the reopening of school.

In addition to the FAQ page, I will be sharing a video presentation with all families on Tuesday, Aug. 11, which will include an overview of the reopening plan, as well as more questions and answers submitted by our families. Some of our other administrators will be joining me to help answer those questions, so please be on the lookout for the video early next week.

If you have a question that has not been answered in the reopening plan or on the FAQ page, please email it to reopening@scsd.org by noon on Monday, Aug. 10. We will answer your questions to the best of our ability during our video presentation and we will also use them to update the FAQ page. If you have a question that is specific to your child, you can also submit it to reopening@scsd.org and a member of our administration will respond to you. As you can imagine, the planning process is not easy and we do not have all of the answers at this time. However, we are working on the details and doing our very best to make sure our families feel comfortable and safe.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, I will be emailing out a short survey where parents/guardians will need to let the district know if they will be opting their child out of in-person learning. We will also ask a few other questions in regards to food service and transportation. All families will need to complete one survey per child by Friday, Aug. 14 so that we will have ample time to plan for the start of the year.

If you still have questions following the video presentation and after you review the FAQ page, you can still submit them to reopening@scsd.org. On Thursday, Aug, 13, at 6 p.m. I will host a livestream where I will answer any remaining questions. More information will be forthcoming.

Again, I want to remind you, all of our plans are subject to change and Governor Cuomo will ultimately be the one who makes the decision on whether or not we will be returning in the fall. If we do, we will be prepared and ready to make changes as needed.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
