Update from the superintendent – Friday, April 10

Dear Stillwater Middle/High School Families,

As mentioned on Monday, Regents exams for June 2020 are canceled. Because of this, the New York State Education Department has modified the requirements that students must meet in order to earn high school diplomas, credentials, and endorsements. These modifications apply to all students enrolled in grades 7-12 during the 2019-20 school year who were intending to participate in one or more of the June 2020 Regents Examinations.

Students who are currently enrolled in a Regents course are strongly encouraged to complete all assigned online coursework during our school closure to achieve course credit for the class. By achieving course credit, the student will be exempt from passing the course’s Regents exam. Students who do not complete coursework will not meet the state’s Regents exemption requirements and would need to return for summer instruction to make up the course credit before they are exempt.

Our teachers have been in contact with students and their families to provide instructional materials, and will continue to do so throughout this extended closure in accordance with the district’s plan for continuing instruction.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. We will provide you with more information as it becomes available and continue to communicate with families via email and our district website.

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
