Update from the superintendent – Wednesday, April 1

Dear Stillwater Families,

As you are likely aware, on March 27, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order extending the closure of schools. During this time, schools are required to provide continuity of instruction, meals for students and childcare resources every weekday, including days originally part of the previously scheduled spring break

We will continue to monitor all available guidance and directives and keep you informed if this changes.

Please visit our website for the following information:

  • Instructional resources and information for students and families;
  • Meal distribution times and locations; and
  • Childcare resources for families of essential workers.

WSWHE BOCES Counseling & Community Resources

WSWHE BOCES has created a website for our community with a list of community resources, mental health resources, tips and tools to reduce stress and anxiety, etc. Please take a look here.

Wellness Wednesday

Today, we began sharing “Wellness Wednesday” videos with the community on our Facebook page. You can also view the first video here. Mrs. Jennifer Oliver-Goodwin and her son Malcolm showed us how to relax with yoga! “Wellness Wednesday” is a districtwide initiative to promote a healthy mind and body. Remember, we are here to help and serve you and your well-being matters to us.

Charging Chromebooks

As a reminder, please DO NOT charge Chromebooks (or any device) on soft surfaces such as beds, couches, plush chairs, etc. This could potentially cause a fire and we want to make sure everyone is charging their devices in a safe environment.

We recognize that this is a stressful and challenging situation. We’re here to support you through it, and know that you are managing many personal and professional responsibilities. We would like to remind you of something that we often tell our students: All we can do is our best. We’ll get through this together.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
